Age 25, cute, and so is the kid. But would you date her? Single moms, have you had problems dating?

Question: I am looking for gifts for some of my friends who are single (as in never married) parents. All of the books that I have found address divorce and custody issues which are not relevant to their parenting situation.
I tried a subscription to a popular parenting magazine for one friend. The feed back that I got from her was that it was a waste of money for her. She made comments like each issue is full of irrelevant articles for her because they focus on the husband-wife relationship. In the course of her 2-year subscription, there was not a single article about single parenting. I was so embarrassed that I had insulted her in this way. I have tried looking at the newsstands and searched on the net but have found nothing. Help please??
Answer: This is an interesting point. And up until four years ago I wouldn’t have even thought about the silent, slowly growing group of Single parents out there. I am now one of “them,” the single parents. I bought the “What to Expect” books for the pregnancy, the toddler years, but I can’t seem to find the book that outlines how to be a single parent.
I am doing what I always do as a parent….I wing it. I go with my gut feeling on most things and parenting has not been any different. I treat my little ladies with dignity and respect. I parent with integrity. Hopefully some of this will rub off on them and they will grow up to be productive members of society and I will have done a good job. I think they will be just fine…I mean I can whip together a pretty good chicken pot pie ad lib, so parenting can’t be too far off, right?
